I'm a Canadian born country singer/songwriter who married an island girl and ended up down in the Caribbean. My wife and I have two boys, and family is number one for me under God.I've been through my share of life experiences, good and bad, and country music is a soundtrack that plays constantly in the background of my life. It makes the ride more enjoyable and helps me make sense of it all. As an artist, I write the kind of songs I love and want to listen to myself. On one end of the spectrum it's thoughtful, honest, and sometimes provocative songs about real life. Other times it's just fun, easygoing songs for beers with friends, or rolling down the highway with the windows down and radio up, or grinding it out on the job site.I got started in my music career later in life, self-producing my debut album “Aging Like Whiskey” in 2022 at the age of 36. The record showcases my skill as a songwriter and is full of honesty and relatability, two hallmarks of my work. “Aging Like Whiskey” wrestles with themes like God, family, belonging, nostalgia, growth and change and so on. All the kinds of things I've been thinking a lot about as I approach 40.In 2025 I completed a certificate in "Advanced Music Production" with Berklee College of Music and I'm planning to self-produce another full length album (out sometime in 2026) putting my new skills to work with a more polished and professional sounding sophomore album. Keep your ears out for more from me!- Jon Ryttersgaard (pronounced "ritt-ers-gard")
